CENTRIFUGAL CASTING

Molten metal is poured into cylindrical molds that are spinning and the metal is forced by centrifugal forces to the ID of the mold. Wall thickness is determined by the amount of metal poured and construction of the mold.

Used for production of:

cylinder liners
heavy-walled cylinders
rings of various ID/OD sizes
Usually requires finish machining
Up to 10,000 lbs., equipment dependent
No cost to low cost tooling
Volume low to high, equipment dependent
Limited design to cylinders with or without flanges.
